Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in India, and a large share of cases are still found late. Screening exists to change that pattern.
What screening involves
A screening visit includes a careful clinical breast examination, a structured assessment of your personal and family risk, and a discussion of whether imaging is appropriate for you now or at a later age.
We also teach breast self-examination properly. Self-examination does not replace clinical screening, but women who know what their own breasts normally feel like are more likely to notice a change early.
When to start, and how often
The right age to begin and the right interval depend on your individual risk — particularly whether a close relative has had breast or ovarian cancer. Rather than applying a blanket rule, we will give you a written schedule that fits your risk profile.
Do not wait for a screening date if you notice something
Book a consultation promptly if you notice a lump or thickening, a change in the shape or size of a breast, skin dimpling or puckering, a nipple that has newly turned inward, discharge from the nipple, or a rash on the nipple that does not settle.
Most such changes turn out to be harmless. Having them examined is still the right decision, and doing so early costs very little.
